District Curriculum Information

At Plainview Elementary, we follow the curriculum set forth by our district. Our teachers have gone through trainings for their respective disciplines, and our interventionists assist with supplementary materials chosen to match our curriculum for maximum student success. Our teachers are trained to address the needs of each student and create meaningful learning experiences and connections.

  • PVE English Language Arts (ELA) Curriculum: HMH, Heggerty, UFLI, & i-Ready

At Plainview Elementary School, our ELA instruction is guided by the HMH: Into Reading Curriculum. This curriculum was selected by our district in order to provide a structured and standards-aligned instruction for each student. In addition, our primary grades (4k-2nd) use Heggerty and UFLI for phonics and phonemic awareness. In the Fall, Winter, and Spring our students take the i-Ready diagnostic to measure their reading growth. These assessments are then used to form small groups and guide daily instruction. The results are categorized as “Approaching, Meets, or Exceeds” and generally correspond with the end-of-the-year SC Ready state assessment for grades 3-6.

  • Plainview Elementary Mathematics Curriculum: iReady

At Plainview Elementary School, our mathematics instruction is guided by the iReady curriculum. This curriculum was selected by our district and is used in all elementary schools. The iReady curriuculum helps teachers to plan and deliver effective lessons because they are structured, interactive, and hands-on. Our students also take the iReady diagnostic assessment in the Fall, Winter, and Spring. These assessments guide whole and small group instruction. iReady also tailors lessons for the individual student based on his/her results of the diagnostic. The results are categorized as “Approaching, Meets, or Exceeds” and like ELA assessment, these scores both align with what students are doing in the classroom and the expectation for how they will perform on the end of the year SC Read state assessment in grades 3-6.
